State Broadband and BEAD Maps

Every state, the District of Columbia and all 5 territories received BEAD funding. Of the 56 jurisdictions, 54 publish an interactive broadband map, dashboard or award tracker; 2 territories publish none and link their broadband office instead.

Availability maps show who can already buy service, almost always built on the FCC’s provider-reported data, so a location that looks wrong on a state map is usually wrong upstream at the FCC. BEAD maps show a later stage: which locations were eligible after the state challenge process, or which provider won the award. Several states merged the two into one map. Entries also link whatever else a state publishes: permitting maps, middle-mile network maps, digital equity dashboards and grant trackers.

17 jurisdictions run Ready.net’s challenge portal, noted in each entry below; their web addresses start with register, broadbandregister or awards. Ready.net sells the software states used to run the BEAD challenge process, deployed once per state, so the interface is identical from Delaware to Guam while the locations and the challenge outcome are each state’s own. Where a state also built a map of its own, that one is listed first: 37 of the 54 entries use no Ready.net at all, and 5 have nothing else.

Challenge portals were open for a fixed window and many are now closed, so they show the challenge outcome rather than live service. Several are still live at addresses the state’s own site never links: North Dakota’s and Ohio’s were both found that way. Award maps shift as NTIA works through curing.
